It strikes me that I’d rather wander in a forest than in a mall. The forest is much more interesting, with wonderful details hidden everywhere. Malls only have different shops with predictable products.
We shop in malls because we don’t have forests. Animals like dogs want to explore the environment, that is why you bring dogs out for a walk. It fulfills a fundamental desire. 

We are animals too, and we need to explore places. Therefore, we build malls and fill it with all the fruits and trees of consumerism. Because we don’t have forests.
